How can we make a difference?

The use of power

Developing leaders in our organisation

The Training

Is suitable for new members and old. There will be people present who have been involved in our work and can share their experiences.

We share some principles and beliefs for you to think about and reflect on. This is participatory training, we expect you to find the answers for yourself.

Topics covered include

  • Power and our understanding of the use of Power;

  • Development of leaders in our organisations

  • Building a relational culture;

  • The role of the Broad Based Organisation in Civil Society

  • What role do faith groups, schools, community associations play in the world and what role should we play?

  • What are some of the things that are influencing us without us even being aware

  • How can we make a difference

  • Story Telling; and

  • Public Speaking.

The weekend training in June was a great success with 22 new leaders taking part.

Feedback from the event

"Challenging, fun and most satisfying."  "I shall use these techniques in other areas of my life. It has really made me think"

"Though it helped me to realise just how much needs to be done, and how the world works to keep us powerless, I feel hopeful that there is a lot we can do."  "Wonderful to meet people who share your concerns and who also want to act on them."

"Great to have a couple of days away to stand back, to be made to think and to reflect."

"It has made me determined to get involved more."

"I was listened to by people I'd thought wouldn't want to listen to me, I was genuinely encouraged to speak my mind."

  • The event is free to IMPACT's members.
  • Most training will be residential, though arrangements to fit in with domestic commitments can be discussed.
  • If necessary, child care can be provided.
